This Easter weekend was our first Easter we spent alone. It didn't really feel like Easter but we did make our own Easter dinner. To start the weekend we met up with some friends for drinks at this place called Kiwi and it was really good. It was a modern place, with neat seating, good staff, and lots of people. The drinks were good too and cheap. Then on Saturday we had to run several errands. So Jared asked me if I wanted to take the bike. Well we only have one bike. But a lot of people around here ride side saddle on the back on the other persons bicycle. We see it all the time so we decided to try it.... This is not us but this is what it looks like ^ but i was on the back!
It was quite a bit uncomfortable and pretty difficult for Jared but it was fun. We road all over town to the bank, to get breakfast, to try to buy Jared his own bike but the store was closed, and to a hardware store. After a few wrong turn and a few hills, we got there and looked at grills and got pliers for my ring guard so I can finally wear my ring! It's a temporary fix but it works for now.
On Saturday night we went to a friends for dinner and had "typical Dutch" or they call it Dutch Gourmet. It is this griddle thing that come with little frying pans and you cook your own food. You can make veggies like peppers, onions and mushrooms, and different kinds of meat like mini hamburgers, little cheese filled meat things, chicken and these things that tasted like breakfast sausage wrapped in bacon. It was all soooo good! It does take a long time to cook but it was really neat and tasted great.^ This is what is looks like but again not one one we used.
On Sunday (Easter) we made our own Easter dinner. We had Ham which cost €22.70 for a small ham but was one of the best hams Jared and I had ever had, (no offense family) and we had fake baked carrots and smashed potatoes. It was really good. Wasn't the same as home but it was our first one alone and was not bad.
Here they sell Easter eggs already colored and boiled in the store. Also on Easter in The Netherlands for Easter egg hunts they hide real hard boiled eggs not plastic ones filled with candy or money. It's cool to hear about the different things people do for holidays... Wait until you hear about their Christmas traditions.
